Venture

LiFi is a new digital age platform that uses light to enable wireless connectivity. Taihei Boeki Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Representative: Hiroaki Matsuda) is pleased to announce the start of sales of the next-generation wireless device "LiFi optical wireless equipment" from pureLiFi, a venture company originating from the University of Edinburgh in the UK. i will let you know. [Click here for details] https://www.taiheiboeki.co.jp/product/optical-imaging/-lifi-purelifi-1.html What is LiFi? LiFi uses the visible light part of the electromagnetic spectrum , audio, video, and other types of data can be communicated at high speed in both directions. Optical wireless technology is new, and in 2011 Professor Harald Haas of the University of Edinburgh (UK) (founder of pureLiFi) introduced it to audiences around the world for the first time at the TED Global Talk (US). LiFi communication is similar to WiFi. It is the difference between using light or using radio waves. pureLiFi's LiFi-XC series incorporates LiFi-dedicated access points and drivers into LED lighting equipment instead of wireless base stations and wireless routers. Light emitted from LiFi-compatible LED lighting is output as optical signals modulated at various rates by LiFi-dedicated drivers. This modulated optical signal is detected by a LiFi-only USB dongle connected to a computer or other device to provide an optical downlink. The flickering of the modulated optical signal is invisible because it is modulated at such a high speed that the human eye cannot perceive it. An optical uplink uses infrared light, invisible to the human eye, and transmits an optical signal from a USB dongle connected to a computer. It is a mechanism that provides two-way optical wireless communication by detecting optical signals with the receiver of the LiFi dedicated access point. LiFi-XC series configuration example Imagine a world where LiFi is integrated into all indoor and outdoor lighting equipment. Since the LiFi wireless communication network by pureLiFi is formed by multiple LED lighting devices, it is possible to easily expand a small communication area. It can be deployed in a wide range of next-generation applications such as smart devices, AI, VR/AR, and edge computing. ■Features of LiFi Secure communication Since light does not penetrate opaque materials such as walls, it is easy to limit the accessible communication area. Personal information and confidential corporate information can be protected with a high degree of security by managing access restrictions in the communication area using small cells. Radio interference / crosstalk free LiFi uses light as a communication medium, so it does not interfere with wireless frequencies such as WiFi. No license is required for the visible light spectrum at this time, allowing for easy installation and increased bandwidth. Access points for location-based service LiFi are assigned IP addresses. LiFi networks use unique identifiers for LiFi-integrated lights, allowing location information to be managed. For example, LiFi networks can be deployed for location-based services such as advanced indoor positioning and navigation that automatically deliver alerts when removed from a particular location. ■Next Generation Gigabit LiFi Optical Antenna pureLiFi aims to create a design that assumes that LiFi will be incorporated into devices such as smart devices. In 2020, we started selling a LiFi optical antenna development kit that supports gigabit. This LiFi optical antenna is designed to be combined with existing basebands. It can be operated in the standard 802.11 baseband, so it can be easily integrated into each device in the future. Of course, it is also possible to build your own solution with other baseband technologies. ■Main applications ・Communication between devices ・Device-monitor communication ・Secure IoT ・AR/VR ・Smart home, infrastructure, etc. ・Streaming Building), we plan to exhibit LiFi optical communication equipment manufactured by pureLiFi.
