Toshiba, Panasonic battery pack

On the 10th, Toshiba Client Solutions Co., Ltd. announced that some models of notebook PCs that use Panasonic batteries have a new defect and may cause smoke/fire, so they will be replaced free of charge.

The company announced in releases dated January 28th and March 1st that there was a defect in some batches of battery packs manufactured by Panasonic that were installed in notebook PCs manufactured by the company, which could lead to smoke/fire. , conducted a free collection program, but this time, it announced that there is another new defect in the battery pack of some models of notebook PCs manufactured after July 2013, and that there is a possibility of the same danger.

The target is 45 domestic models shipped from July 2013 to August 2014. The number of items to be collected is 44,791. We presume that the cause of the failure was insufficient management of the process of manufacturing battery electrodes at the Panasonic factory. For this reason, users who were previously excluded are also reminded to check again.

On the battery recovery program page, a utility for automatic confirmation is distributed, and you can apply directly from the utility. You can also apply for an exchange by manually filling out a web form. If the battery is to be replaced, please remove the battery from the main unit and stop using it immediately.

In addition to the homepage, a special "dynabook battery pack replacement window" (0120-444-842) is also available. The window will be open from 9:00 to 19:00, including weekends and holidays, until December 11th, and after that, it will be handled at hours excluding weekends, holidays, and Toshiba-designated holidays.
