HUAWEI WATCH FIT, a new smart watch announced by HUAWEI to be released in Japan on October 2nd. As the name suggests, it is a smart watch specializing in fitness, and it is characterized by its low price of 13,800 yen (excluding tax) due to the limited functions.
I borrowed this WATCH FIT before it went on sale, so I tried using it for a few days. Although some are unsatisfactory, I think that it is a very attractive model when considering it as a fitness tracker with a large screen.
1.64 inch portrait display HUAWEI WATCH FIT
The case size is 46x30x10.7mm. It is an image of the Apple Watch being vertically long, but the vertical length is not much different from the 44 mm model of the Apple Watch, so it may be better to make it thinner than to make it vertically long.
The display is 1.64 inch AMOLED and the color is very beautiful. Of course, it supports touch operation and the reaction is good.
The display is normally turned off to save power, and turns on when you lift your wrist. However, instead of halving the battery life, you also have the option of keeping it on all the time.
In the range I actually tried, if you do not use constant lighting, the battery consumes 8 to 10% in a day. It feels like it's always on and up to about 15%. Of course, it depends on how you use it and how many notifications you have, but it seems that it takes about 10 days for the battery to last for about 10 days if you don't use it, and about 5 to 7 days for him if you use it.
To be honest, there is a time lag until the screen comes on when you raise your wrist, so you can use it without stress if it is always on.
The watch face can be changed from the dedicated application HUAWEI Health (Android, iOS) for Android, but it is not supported for iOS.
However, some watch faces are preset on WATCH FIT, so even iOS users can choose from them and change them.
Heart rate monitor on the back. It is functionally compatible with SpO2 measurement, but unfortunately it does not seem to be available in Japan. Charging is done from the POGO pin on the back using a dedicated cable. Also, the belt seems to be removable, but you can't use a commercially available one.
Swipe the screen from bottom to top to display the message notification screen. Here, you can display SMS etc. However, although SMS can be displayed in full text, Gmail is only the title and the text cannot be confirmed.
It's a little disappointing that you can't see the text because the display is big and easy to see.
The physical buttons are just on the right side of the body. When you press this, various menus will be displayed, and you can start your workout from here. Of course, you can also start your workout from your smartphone.
When you start a workout such as running or walking on WATCH FIT, the GPS connection screen will be displayed first. There is no menu to turn GPS on / off in the setting menu of the WATCH FIT main unit, and it may be a specification to use the GPS of WATCH FIT only when starting a workout on WATCH FIT.
You can check the workout results not only on the WATCH FIT but also on the smartphone app.
Workout animations that are useful until you get used to them
One of the appealing points of HUAWEI WATCH FIT is 12 types of workout animations. It can be displayed by selecting a fitness course from the workout menu. There are 12 3-18 minute courses such as "Awakening" and "Neck and Shoulder Relaxation".
At the beginning of each exercise, an animation explaining the movement is displayed, and you can see it, learn the movement, and try it yourself. You can't even look at your wrists while exercising, but it's certainly easy to see the movement first.
Sleep log that shows improvement points
Another feature is the HUAWEI TruSlee 2.0 sleep monitoring function. It's a common sleep log feature, but it's kind of not only checking your sleep quality in detail, but also showing you how you can improve it.
Fitness tracker with a big screen
It's not enough for a smartwatch, but it's good enough for a fitness tracker. The battery life is not bad, and above all, the screen is large and the visibility is high, so it will be helpful even in the age when eyesight began to decline like me.
With this, I wouldn't say if I could confirm the body of the email, but other fitness trackers, including Mi Band, do not support it, so it is probably too much to ask for.
For those who are interested in fitness trackers but find the screen small and difficult to use, it seems to be an attractive model.
